Janice Leslie Rumpz (Chiesa), age 66 of Hartland, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Sunday, November 3, 2013. Janice was born in Lansing on December 26, 1946 to Leslie and Theda Chiesa of Okemos. After retiring from Chateau Properties as vice president of marketing, she enjoyed pursuing hobbies she hadn’t had time for previously. Janice will long be remembered for the artistic creations she unselfishly presented to family and friends, especially her obsession of frogs painted on stones. Another passion of Janice’s was her flower gardens – a true testament from anyone who visited or just walked by her home. She is survived by Jerry, her loving husband of 28 years; her sister, Cheryl Sterle (Chiesa) of Leslie; brother, Jon Chiesa of Haslett; sister-in-law, Georgeiana Yung of Westland; step-children, Gregory Rumpz and Donna (Kevin) Cantle; step-grandchildren, Andrew Rumpz, Sarah Rumpz, Daniel Cantle, Emily Cantle and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. One special friend, “Jethro” will miss their daily walks, naps and treats. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-laws, Bill Sterle, Oscar Yung and Robert Rumpz. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held Sunday, November 17th, 2013 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hartland Glen Golf Course, 12400 Highland Rd., Hartland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local humane society or the American Lung Association of Michigan.
