Margaret S. Stampfly VIEW PROFILE

Margaret S. Stampfly

Margaret S. Stampfly

Age 89, died Thursday, June 20, 1996, at her daughter’s home after a short illness.  She was born December 2, 1906, in Conway, MO, the daughter of Emma and Allie Stanton and spent much of her life in the Lansing area.  She graduated from MSU in 1929 with a degree in Home Economics, and then dedicated herself to teaching women to be homemakers.  In the later years, she taught her neighbors crafts and handiwork.  These evening classes would end with drinking tea from one of her pretty china teacups.  Her church was most important to her; she worked very hard to enhance the fellowship with her cinnamon rolls and her Sunday school teaching.  After her husband, Larry, died in 1949, Margaret went back to school to obtain her Master’s degree to update her teaching skills.  She loved her grandchildren and spent many summer weeks entertaining and visiting them.  Margaret is survived by her daughter, Mary (George) Lindquist; her son, Al (Sue) Stampfly; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother.  She was preceded in death by three siblings.  There will be a graveside service in Gunnisonville Cemetery at 11 a.m., Monday, June 24, 1996, immediately followed by a celebration of her life in a memorial service at Gunnisonville Church at the corner of Wood and Clark Roads.  Arrangements by Nie Funeral Home, Ann Arbor, MI.
