Bonnie Gail Cutler (Leathers)

Bonnie Gail Cutler, daughter of Gayle H. (1922-1988) and Lois (Hewitt) Cutler, was born 21 February 1945, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1963 from Okemos High School.  Bonnie married OHS graduate William Michael "Bill" Leathers 15 January 1966, Lansing.  Bill was a 1965 OHS graduate.

NEWLYWEDS TRAVEL TO FLORIDA

Mr. and Mrs. William Michael Leathers left on a wedding trip to Florida following their marriage Saturday afternoon at First Christian Church.  Immediately following the ceremony, they greeted guests in the church parlors.

The former Miss Bonnie Gail Cutler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Cutler, 4965 Hillcrest Ave., Okemos, the bride chose a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace and taffeta with chapel train and bouffant skirt.

Her maid of honor, Miss Kathy Bodwin of Grand Rapids, and bridesmaids Miss Carol Hickling of Okemos, her cousin; Miss Vickie Pearce of Okemos and Miss Sandra Cutler, her sister, wore floor-length ruby velvet empire gowns and carried white fur muffs.

Terry cook of Okemos was best man.  Seating guests were David Roether of Williamston, Terry Hammond and Douglas Druckenbrodt of Kalamazoo.

Marie Lynn Hewitt, cousin of the bride, and David Cutler, nephew of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer.

The newlyweds will reside at 502 Timber Lanes, East Lansing.  the bride has attended Lansing Community College, where the bridegroom is now a student.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Leathers, 4805 Nakoma Drive, Okemos.

 

Bill and Bonnie had 3 children.  They later divorced.  Bill, born 8 January 1947, succumbed to ALS 22 September 2012.

Bonnie died 1 May 2018.  She was interred Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Eaton County, Michigan.

Bonnie Gail Leathers of Lansing, 

Passed away May 1, 2018 at the age of 73. Bonnie was born in Lansing, February 21, 1945, the daughter of Gayle and Lois (Hewitt) Cutler. She was a 1963 graduate of Okemos High School. Bonnie worked for Don’s Truck Stop and Brinks Security for 10 years. She attended St. Gerard Catholic Church, was involved with the Junior League of Lansing and was the Potterville parade coordinator for many years. Bonnie loved dogs, playing euchre and tatted.   

Bonnie is survived by her mother, Lois Cutler of Dimondale; son, David (Jessica) Leathers of Dimondale, daughter, Gretchen (Jay) Becker of Portage; son, Adam (Danielle) Leathers of Perry; grandchildren, Mason Leathers, John and Robert Becker, Emily, Evan, and Owen Leathers; sister, Sandra (Bob) Potter of Mason; cousin, Carol Piper Curtis; niece and nephew, Chris Potter; Kim Randall and their families; special friends, Vickie and Terry Hammond, Kathy and Jordan Odell. She was preceded in death by her father; former husband, Bill Leathers; uncle, Richard Hewitt.

Graveside services will be 11:30 am Friday May 4, 2018 at Deep Dale Memorial Gardens, 4108 Old Lansing Rd. Lansing, MI 48917, with visitation starting 11:00 am. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48906. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids.
