Freida Frances Burcher (Gaulden) - Class Of 1937

Freida Frances Bucher, daughter of Albert (1870-1921) and Sarah "Dolly" (Deshler) (1878-196?) Bucher, was born 4 April 1919 Perry, Shiawassee County, Michigan.  Her father died of cancer in 1921.  Frieda graduated from Okemos High School in 1937.  She married Freeman N. Gaulden 4 April 1942 East Lansing, Ingham County.  Freeman, born 3 November 1916 in Tennessee, enlisted in the US Army 28 June 1941 Kalamazoo, Michigan.

BUCHER-GAULDEN RITES SOLEMNIZED

The chapel of Peoples church at East Lansing, decorated with palms and ferns and lighted by candles, was the scene of the marriage Saturday evening of Miss Frieda Frances Bucher of East Lansing, daughter of Mrs. Dolly Bucher of Perry, and Corp. Freeman Gaulden, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Gaulden, of Palm Beach, Fla.  Nearly 100 guests attended the ceremony at which Dr. N. A. McCune officiated.

Freeman attained the rank of Sergeant.  He was honorably discharged from military service 22 December 1945.  Freeman died 23 November 1982.  Freeman was interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing. Freida died 30 November 2013.

Age 66, died Nov. 23, 1982.  Born Nov. 3, 1916 in Dresden, TN.  Mr. Gaulden was a resident of East Lansing for 43 years and was employed with the Bostwick-Braun Co. of Toledo, OH as a wholesale hardware salesman.  He was a former member of Peoples Church and a member of the East Lansing Lodge #480 F. & A.M. and was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army.  Surviving are his wife, Freida; 1 daughter, Mrs. Robert (JoAnn) Kutas of Atlanta; 3 grandchildren, Robert, Stephen and Kevin; 1 brother, N.A. Gaulden of Lansing; 1 sister, Mrs. Virginia Bond of Washington, MI.  Funeral services will be held Mon., 1 p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing with the Rev. Theodor A. Tuenge, Associate Pastor of Peoples Church officiating.

Mrs. Freida Frances Gaulden, 94, of Cartersville, formerly of Michigan, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at her residence. Born in Perry, Michigan on April 4, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Albert Bucher and the late Dolly Deshler. She was also preceded in death by her husband Freeman Gaulden. Mrs. Gaulden worked as the manager of Polacheck’s Fabric until her retirement. She loved to sew, garden and work in her home which was always immaculate. Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Kutas.
