Bethyl Laverne Freeman (Wells) - Class Of 1937

Bethyl Laverne "Beth" Freeman, daughter of Verne A. (1889-1991) and Miriam (Morgan) (1891-1974) Freeman, was born 24 May 1919 East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated from Okemos High School in 1937.  Beth married Stanfield McNeill Wells 10 August 1943 in East Lansing.

EAST LANSING GIRL BRIDE OF NAVAL PETTY OFFICER

The wedding of Miss Bethyl Freeman, daughter of Prof. and Mrs. V. A. Freeman, 835 Sunset lane, East Lansing and Stanfield McNeill Well, Jr., petty officer first class, United States navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Wells of Nashville, Tenn., was solemnized Tuesday afternoon in McCune chapel of Peoples church, Rev. H. G. Gaige officiated.  Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. L. B. Sholl.

Stanfield, born 12 March 1917 served as an Ensign in the US Navy, submarine service, during World War II.  Stanfield died 14 May 1993, Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan.  Beth died 11 June 2006.  Stanfield and Beth were interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos, Ingham County.
