Dean Harrison Bennett - Class Of 1944

Dean Harrison Bennett, son of Peter Harrison (1888-1963) and Susan Maria (Buck) (1889-1971) Bennett, was born 26 March 1924 Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated in 1944 from Okemos High School and married, 12 July 1944 Okemos, Ingham County, Lucille I. Lamb.  Dean served in the US Navy during World War II.  He died 11 April 2011 Eaton County, Michigan and was interred Leek Cemetery, Okemos.

Dean, 87 of Charlotte, MI, died Monday, at his residence. Dean was born near Lansing. the son of Peter Harrison and Susan (Buck) Bennett and had been a Charlotte resident since 1957.

He had served in the U. S. Navy during World War Two. He was a lifelong farmer and was still actively involved in the operation of his farm. He was also a Blacksmith performing his duties around the area and many years ago had a Blacksmith Shop in Nashville and also served as an instructor in Blacksmithing at M.S.U. While in Nashville was an active member of the Community in many areas including being a Volunteer Fireman. He was an avid bowler.

Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Lucille (Lamb) Bennett; 3 children, Diane (Ron) Thies of Lansing, Jim (Mary) Bennett of Charlotte and Peter (Susan) Bennett of Charlotte; 9 grand children; 7 great grandchildren; 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Memorial services were held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Paul Swan and Pastor Irene Vittoz officiating.
