David Burly Groh - Class Of 1961

David Burly Groh, born 3 Feburary 1943 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, was the son of Royce Wilbur (1912-1975) and Helen Elizabeth (Burlingame) (1909-2008) Groh.  David succumbed to brain cancer 14 December 1997 and was interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan.  His parents were also interred in Evergreen Cemetery.  David's father, Royce, was at one time 1st violinist with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra.

GROH, DAVID B.

LANSING

Age 54, went to be home with the Lord on December 14, 1997.  Mr. Groh was born on February 3, 1943; was a 1961 graduate of Okemos High School; and had attended Lansing Community College.  He had served in the Reserves from 1965-1969 and had retired from Oldsmobile Corporation after 30 years of service.  Mr. Groh was disagnosed with brain cancer in 1982.  He fought a brave fight until his death.  The many things he wanted to do in life were put on hold when he was diagnosed.  Mr. Groh was preceded in death by his father, Royce Groh (1975) and his sister, Joyce Sheets (1985).  He leaves behind a daughter, Dawn Vallen; a son, Patrick Groh; grandchildren, Roxanne, Derrick, Joshua and Breanna; his mother, Helen Groh; 3 nieces, Kristin Nicholson, Valerie Espenoza and Annie Sheets; a nephew Lawrence Sheets; and a close and loving friend, Martha Klanecky.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co., East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with the Rev. Dean White, Associate Pastor of Towar Hart Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
