Steve A. Van Deventer, son of Stephen Adelbert (1925-2005) and Grace (Isham) Van Deventer, was born 28 April 1950 in Michigan.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1969 and was a US Marine Corps veteran.  Steve died 31 December 2010 and was interred Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, DeWitt, Clinton County, Michigan.

Steve, 60, of Lansing, went to be with The Lord, on Friday. Steve was the son of Stephen A. and Grace (Isham) Van Deventer. Steve graduated from Okemos High School in 1969.
He was a US Marine from 1970-1971. Steve worked at Motor Wheel as a foreman from 1974-1986. He was a former Summertime Concrete employee and a current High Grade Materials Co. employee.
Steve enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening. He was a huge NASCAR and MSU fan. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who put his family first and will be remembered by all that knew him. Steve was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law, Frederico S. Jimenez.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 23 years, Maria; mother, Grace; children, Chris (Jennifer) Van Deventer, James (Gloria) Cantwell, Stephenie (Juan) Garcia, Trisha (Bryan) Bell, Stacy Cantwell (Shawn Geiger), Stacey (Jeremy) Newland, Kirstin "Boo" Van Deventer and Grace Arsenia Van Deventer; siblings, Mark (Deborah) Van Deventer, Ford Van Deventer, Guy (Rozanne) Van Deventer, Gwen (John) Burgess and Karl (Liz) Van Deventer. Also surviving are 17 special grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, January 7, 2011, at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel.
