Following a lengthy battle with cancer it is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James Paul Fair class of 1970 of Rapid City, Michigan at the age of 71.

James is preceded in death by his mother, Corrine M. Fair and survived in death by his father, Paul W. Fair; brother, Alan T. Fair and his significant other, Michele Peutet.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends; he lived a life selfless in actions, purity in motive, modest in possessions, rich in the friendship, loyalty, caring, wisdom, and love he offered to all those who came to know him. He spoke little, carried a big heart, and was happiest in the society of friends helping friends.

Jim was born in Pontiac, Michigan in 1951, graduated from Okemos High School in 1970 and Central Michigan University in 1974. After early work in the construction trades James moved to Arizona, where he owned and operated a Landscapes Maintenance Company, retiring in 2006 and returning to northern Michigan.

Jim possessed a keen mind and wit, loved History, Indian traditions of the west, (as did his grandfather, James Stites), as well the natural world, including the farms, woods, and people of northern Michigan, the deserts and mountains of Arizona, where he spent winters.

A graveside memorial service will take place at 12:00 noon on, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Acme Township Cemetery. Pastor Linda Stephan will officiate. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Travis and Katie Lorenz and Jim's caregivers for their loving care of Jim.
