GUY DONALD GORDON
Born June 14, 1953, Guy was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 18, 2004. "Flash" Gordon attended Okemos High School, Lansing Community College and Western Michigan University. He entered public service in 1977 as a broadcaster and journalist for the Michigan Senate. He served as Director of the Senate Republican Communications Office and Press Secretary to two Senate Majority Leaders. He joined the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in 1992, serving as Press Secretary to three DNR Directors, and was promoted to the position of Chief of Staff. Guy was appointed to the Exposition and Fairgrounds Advisory Council, the Aeronautics Commission and the Michigan Public Safety Communications System Advisory Board. He was a private and sensitive man of peace, honor and integrity who treated people as he would like to be treated. Guy is survived by the two greatest loves of his life: his beloved soul mate and wife, Jane, and his cherished daughter, Jennifer. His parents, Don and Maxine reside in the Lansing area, as does his sister, Trudy (George) Carpenter. His sister, Linda (Tom) Kalber lives in Sacramento, CA. Guy is survived by many other loving relatives and friends. It was his expressed wish that there be no funeral, and that his ashes be released to the Lake Michigan winds near his childhood home in Leland, MI. Guy would want his family and friends to remember his smile and his sense of humor, and choose to celebrate his life, rather than mourn his death. Those wishing to do so are encouraged to contribute to the Youth Haven Ranch, P.O. Box 97, Rives Junction, MI, 49277.
Guy was born 14 June 1953 Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan. He died 18 January 2005 Leelanau County, Michigan. He was state Department of Natural Resources chief of staff at the time of death. Place of interment is unknown.
