Dree (Look) Lo
Petoskey, MI

Dree (Look) Lo died at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI on April 27th, 2017 at the age of 57,after a brief and unexpected illness, surrounded by her entire family and close friends.

Dree was born on December 26th, 1959 in Lansing to Dean and Marlene Look. A 9-letter athlete in volleyball,  softball, and basketball, she graduated from Okemos High School in 1978, and was later inducted into OHS Hall of Fame for her sports achievements. She went on to graduate from University of Northern Colorado in 1982. She married Gustav Lo in 1983.They welcomed their two sons Carson and Austin into their lives in 1987 and 1990, respectively.
Unquestionably, Dree was an accomplished athlete throughout her life as a competitor, coach, and community instructor. For the past 15 years, she dedicated herself to Petoskey's tennis programs. She became invaluable to both the high school JV and varsity teams and the city's parks and recreation tennis program, playing a key role in their continued development. She received the 2014 Glenn H. Casey award for her leadership and coaching in both the City's recreational tennis program and as Petoskey High School's girls tennis coach. Her devotion to both the sport and community will be long remembered by the many whose lives she touched.

In recent years, in the off-season (if there is such a thing for tennis), Dree travelled the globe scuba diving, biking, hiking, and otherwise adventuring. She loved her weekly Sunday morning runs with her sons and close friends, and could often be found enjoying herself outdoors in her garden and on local  trails.

Dree is survived by her parents, Dean and Marlene Look of Okemos, sons Carson of Traverse City, and Austin of Berkeley, CA, and siblings Darcy (William) Marks and Dina (Thomas) Archipley, and many nieces and nephews.

A remembrane for Dree is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th at Stafford's Perry Hotel from 3-6 pm, with a service at 5 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life and contribution to Petoskey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Dree Lo Memorial Community Tennis Fund, 616 Petoskey St, #203 Petoskey, MI 49770

A second memorial service will be held in her hometown of Okemos, MI at a later date.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. Dree and her family lived right behind us in Okemos. Her father, Dean became almost a second father to me when my father traveled. He was a wonderful mentor and sports idol of mine. Dree and her sisters would swim in our pool often in the summers. We became close family friends with the entire Look family. Although I never knew her in adulthood, I could already tell that she would make her mark in the world. My condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to her family and friends. Godspeed, Dree.
