Carol Christine Gustafson (Murphy) - Class Of 1979

Carol Christine Gustafson, only child of Dr. Robert Lloyd (1920 Norway - 1997) and Mary Margaret (Marshall) (1925-2009) Gustafson, was born 23 December 1960, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1979 from Okemos High School and went on to further her education at Michigan State University.  Carol married Gary Scott Murphy in 1996.  At the time of her death she was working towards a doctorate in Forestry Economics.  Carol and Gary did not have children.  Carol died 13 December 2000, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, interment unknown.

Carol's father was interred Iron Mountain Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan.  Carol's mother was interred Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge, Eaton County, Michigan.

Died December 13, 2000 at Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.  Born December 23, 1960 in Lansing, MI to Dr. Robert L. Gustafson and Mary Marshall Gustafson of East Lansing.  Survived by her husband, Gary S. Murphy of Vermontville, her mother, Mary M. Gustafson of East Lansing; and cousins, Gare Unnewehr and Crandon Gustafson of Chicago and Kort Gustafson of Oak Park, IL.  Carol graduated from Okemos High School in 199.  She received a degree in Economics in 1983 and an MBA in 1991 from Michigan State University.  Carol was finishing class work on a doctorate in Forestry Economics.  After graduation Carol worked for EDS.  In 1985 she returned to MSU.  Her current position was with the Office of Budgets and Planning.  Carol and Gary enjoyed fishing and their cottage.  Carol cared about the environment and was interested in forestry organizations.  She hoped to work toward preserving our forests.
