Okemos - Cindy Nordberg, 52, passed away on December 27, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Florida with her family by her side.

She was born May 1, 1965 to the late Ron and Barb (Martin) Lindell.  She graduated from Okemos High School Class of 1983 and played on the varsity tennis team.  She then attended Michigan State University and received a degree in Merchandising Management.  Cindy has one sister, and her best friend, Sandy Lindell.

Cindy dated and went to prom with Eric Nordberg, who would later become her husband.  Eric and Cindy found each other again at Torch Lake where Eric had been spending his summers since childhood.  It was an instant rekindling between the two, and Cindy and Eric were married on September 8, 1990 and have enjoyed 27 years together, raising three beautiful children in Okemos.

Cindy's greatest joy was being a mother and spending time with her three wonderful children, Taylor, 25, Nikki, 21, and Tommy, 18, Nordberg.  Cindy attended countless soccer, tennis, basketball and lacrosse events.  She was a tireless cheerleader and enjoyed sharing photographs and videos with family and friends.  Cindy was also a loyal Sparty and enjoyed watching MSU football and basketball games.

Cindy spent her summers in northern Michigan on Torch Lake where she took long walks in the woods and spent days at the beach with her kids, the Nordberg family and many beloved lake friends.  She was a member of the Torch Lake Yacht Club and enjoyed being on the water watching and taking pictures of the sailboat races and just soaking up the warm sunshine.  She also continued to be an avid and tremendous tennis player and cold occasionally be seen slalom water skiing on calm days.

Cindy is survived by her husband Eric Nordberg; her children, Taylor Nordberg, Nichole (Nikki) Nordberg and Thomas (Tommy) Nordberg; her mother, Barbara (Barb) Jean Lindell; and sister, Sandra (Sandy) Ann Lindell.  Cindy was also passionate about her pets and leaves behind Zack the cat and her beloved dog, Skye, who was by her side for her last days in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Lindell, and her grandparents; Art and Vera Lindell; and Bill and Mill Martin.

Cindy was loved and adored by her family and many friends and she will be deeply missed.
