Carol Jean Reed

Carol Jean Reed class of 1962, daughter of Dr. Oliver Grant (1913-1969) and Leta June (Machogan) (1920-2002) Reed, was born 9 June 1943 at Fort Lewis, Pierce County, Washington.  She graduated from Okemos High School in 1962.  Carol succumbed to cancer 2 March 1992 in Ingham County, Michigan.

Beloved daughter of Leta M. Reed and the late Dr. O. Grant Reed, died at home March 2, 1992 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. 

Born June 9, 1943 in Fort Lewis, WA, Carol graduated from Okemos High School, then attended Central Michigan University and later M.S.U. where she earned a BA Degree in Art, majoring in graphic art, primarily silk-screening.  After graduating from M.S.U., Carol taught in Durand, MI and taught art in Atherton High School, Atherton, MI.  She returned to M.S.U. as a graduate student to earn her degree in Special Education after which she taught Special Ed in the Greater Lansing school system. 

Surviving besides her mother, Leta; are her twin sister, Mrs. Lloyd E. (Joan Marsha) Benedict and brother-in-law, Lloyd and their son, Reed Christian Benedict, all of Holt; Richard Reed of Bel Air, TX; Karl E. and Grant O. Reed; and aunt, Helen E. Reed, all of Worthington, OH. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, East Lansing, with the Rev. Clayton Libolt, Pastor of River Terrace Christian Reformed Church and The Rev. Emerson E. Eggerichs, Jr., Senior Pastor East Lansing Trinity Church officiating.  Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
