Comments about life and living

My wife, Karen, and I are living in Clarkston, Ml. Our two children now reside in Texas with
our eight grandchildren. Our goal is to move down there within the next two years.
Highlights of our lives:

I. Married August 5th, 1967 to Karen Kay Huber. Met at an Okemos party at my house
while my parents were in Hawaii. Remember vividly my little brother, Fred, trying to get
several drunk friends (Bartow and Wallin among others) off the roof of our garage at that
memorable event.

2. Drafted in Marine Corps in December of 1970 and spent two years at Camp Pendleton in
California.

3. Karen taught school for several years until Jeffrey (an attorney) arrived in 1972, followed
by Jenelyn (teacher who is a full time Mom at the moment) in 1976.

4. Built our own home and lived in West Bloomfield, MI, for 20-plus years before we
moved to Clarkston.

5. First career in consulting for retailers - primarily location research for new sites and
market strategies. First seven years for someone else, then started our own business.

6. Second and third careers: went into the restaurant business with brother-in-law in
Florida. Opened one store in West Bloomfield, but sold all after a few years. Joined wife in her
network marketing business, Starlight International, and as a result won many trips (England,
Italy twice, Maui twice, Puerto Rico, Austria, Southern France). Built a down line of over 700.

7. Started Local Business Network, a business referral organization in 1999. Currently have
35 chapters in Detroit metro area. Wrote Network Your Way to $100,000 and Beyond. Have
half a dozen members who have received over $1 million in referrals.

8. Will semi-retire when we move to Texas.

School Stories

Fond memories of Okemos High:
I. Miss Nico kidding me about my North Carolina accent in the 7th grade annex.
2. Dating several of the world's loveliest women.
3. Football and basketball games.
4. Stealing the bell.
5. Poker with the boys.
6. Moving into the new campus-style high school on south Okemos Road.
7. Canoeing, camping trips, dancing at The Box at Houghton Lake.
Ain't dead yet, but sure am slowing down!
