Comments about life and living

I worked at a couple of jobs before raising children. I have two sons, one daughter: Doug ( 45),
David (42), Christy (34). Once the boys were in school I went to work at Baker Publishing and
worked there until 2000. After adopting my sons, at age 34 I gave birth to my daughter. Several
years later I was divorced and later married my husband Arno Hamm. We've been married 23
years. My family grew to include his children, Ann (45), Trisha (42), Chris (38). Together we
have 16 grandkids and one great-granddaughter. Our kids live in several states, including South
Carolina. We had a great opportunity in Arno's career to move to Greenville, SC, in May 2000. We live
about 10 min. from downtown Greenville, which is awesome. We cherish our friends from Michigan and meet with them as often as possible (from Hawaii, to Hilton Head and in between).
We have met many new friends down here (most originally from the north). Both of us are retired .. .I think. We keep pretty busy. My busy is watching Granddaughter Abigail (4) after day care several days a month. I also do volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and for Oakleaf Village Assisted Living. My Mom is a resident in the memory care unit, with Alzheimer's. I finally am able to pursue my passion for working with the elderly. I do a tremendous amount of volunteer work with the residents and love them all. I also give private painting lessons, plus enjoy my own time to paint (mostly dogs). We love to play golf. My husband is Santa with Chick-fil-A, and we are talking about adding a Mrs. Santa. Guess who?? Life is great!! ! ! !!

School Stories

I can remember some good and not so good times in school. I enjoyed my friends but was on the shy side (not any more). I think about being in kindergarten with Bruce Campbell and Jane Renz, then, after changing schools, we graduated in the same class. Other memories include a teacher reading a note I passed wanting a certain boy to ask me out. She read it to the class. He DID ask me go to the dance, but my parents wouldn't let me go.

I also remember ''the strip'', then "Sully's". I had to be careful at Sully's because my uncle owned it. Speaking of the strip, several friends (they know who they are) would get some guys to follow us and once we got near home, we'd lose (ditch) them. Those were the days ... can you imagine doing that now?

I also remember a certain guy I would have loved to date calling me to tell me about another guy that wanted to go out with me ... only I didn't want to go out with him. I saw the guy who called at a past reunion and he looked awesome.
