Eleanor Alice Griggs (Williams) - Class Of 1958

Eleanor Alice Griggs, daughter of Clarence J. (1917-2005) and Nora Helen "Babe" (McMann) (1920-2008) Griggs, was born 5 January 1940, Dansville, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1958 from Okemos High School and furthered her education with an LPN degree from Lansing School of Practical Nursing.  In 1961 she married Donald E. Williams, born 1939, and the two celebrated 40 years of marriage and 5 children together.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Griggs of 572 E. Mt. Hope rd., Okemos announce the engagement of their daughter, Eleanor Alice, to Donald Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Williams of Mason.

The bride-elect is a graduate of the Lansing School of Practical Nursing.

A Dec. 20 wedding is planned for Germany, where the bride-groom is stationed with the U.S. Army.

Eleanor succumbed to cancer 28 January 2002, Ingham County.  She was inurned Greenwood Cemetery, Ingham County.

ELEANOR A. WILLIAMS

MASON

Age 62, died Monday, January 28, 2002.  She was born January 5, 1940 in Dansville, Michigan.  Eleanor fought a short and valiant fight against cancer.  She graduated from Okemos High School in 1959 and was a member of the first graduating class of nurses from Lansing Community Collete.  Eleanor enjoyed dancing with her family the Family Dancers and many other square dance clubs.  She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald E. Williams of Mason, children, Rick Williams of Lansing; Chris (Jamie) Lofton of Needles, California; Tim (Mariya) Williams of Lansing; and Melissa and K-Lynn Williams at home; grandchildren, Joshua, Maegan, and Justin Williams of Lansing,.  Parents Clarence J. and Nora H. Griggs, Mason; sisters, June (Howard) Lloyd, Williamston; Carolyn (Roger) Manning, Portland; brothers, Casey (Mary) Griggs, Midland; Rob (Peg) Griggs, Jackson and many nieces and nephews.  She was blessed with many special friends especially the Mother's Club and the staff of Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte.  A memorial service for Eleanor will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the Eden United Brethren Church, 1938 Eden Road, Mason, MI with the Rev. Wesley b. Emerson, presiding.
