Richard Lukens Cade - Class Of 1943

Richard Lukens Cade, son of Claude Marshal (1885-1970) and Agnes (Hunt) (1883-1969) Cade, was born 1 July 1926 East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  He was a fraternal twin to Alma Jane.  He and Alma graduated together in 1943 from Okemos High School. 

Richard was a US Navy veteran of World War II.

CADE - Richard Cade seaman first class, of Route 1, East Lansing, has graduated as one of ten honor students in his class at an aerial gunner's school at Jacksonville, Fla.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Marshall Cade.

Richard attended and graduated from Michigan State College.  He married 17 June 1949 East Lansing, Miss Norma Lillian Benjamin.

MRS. RICHARD L. CADE

Miss Norma Lillian Benjamin of Galesburg and Richard L. Cade, son of Prof. and Mrs. C. Marshall Cade, 5290 Park Lake rd., East Lansing, were married June 17 in McCune chapel, Peoples church, East Lansing.  The new Mrs. Cade is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Benjamin of Galesburg.

Richard was an engineer at John Deer in Dubuque and Waterloo, Iowa for many years.  He died 10 November 2014, Iowa.

Obituary for Richard Cade

Richard Lukens Cade, 88, of Dubuque died Monday, November 10 at home. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a public Masonic Service at 6 pm. A Memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ where friends may also call from 1 to 1:45 pm Saturday. There will be a private family interment at a later date. Richard was born July 1, 1926 in East Lansing, Michigan, son of Claude Marshall and Agnes (Hunt) Cade. He graduated from public school in East Lansing, followed by service in the United States Navy during World War II. During his undergraduate studies at Michigan State, Richard met his future wife of 65 years, Norma Benjamin, on a blind date. They both graduated in 1949. They formed a close family that included four children, as well as two foreign exchange students and a foster son, Brian. Richard spent his career employed as an engineer at John Deere in Dubuque and Waterloo, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Norma; three children, Claudia (Bill) Boss, Rena Cade, and Martin (Melissa) Cade; son- in- law, Tom LeClere; grandchildren Tracy LeClere, Wade (Tami) LeClere, Yancey Boss, Drew Boss, Richard Cade and expected to arrive soon, Robert Cade; and four great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Becki LeClere; a sister in infancy; brothers Bill and Tommy; twin sister, Jane; and several aunts and uncles.
