Frederick Longines "Fred" Fichter, son of Fred C. (1896-1971) and Rose M. (Jansen) (1902-1997) Fichter, was born 3 February 1926 Howell, Livingston County, Michigan. He graduated in 1943 from Okemos High School and in 1949 from Michigan State College. Fred married Dorothy Jean Steward 26 March 1949 East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.

FLORIDA HONEYMOON FOLLOWS SATURDAY MORNING WEDDING
Honeymooning to Florida following their marriage Saturday morning are the former Miss Dorothy Jean Stewart, 112 S. Holmes st., and her bridegroom, Frederick L. Fichter of R. 4, Mason.
They repeated their vows before Rev. Fr. Geoge Zabelka in the rectory of St. Thomas Aquinas church, East Lansing, at 10 a.m. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stewart of Owosso and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fichter of Mason.

The bride chose a powder blue dress of street length and navy blue accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid. Miss Jane Paulis, maid of honor, wore a gray dress and pinned a corsage of pink roses to her shoulder.

Best man for his brother was Donald Fichter of Mason.

A wedding breakfast was served at noon in the home of the Fichters near Mason before the group returned to greet 80 guests at a reception in the bride's parents' home from 2 to 4 p.m.

Upon their return from the southern wedding trip April 10, the newlyweds will be at home in Grand Rapids. Mr. Fichter was graduated from Michigan State college this month.

Dorothy Jean, born 27 May 1922, died 25 March 2014 Arizona. She was interred Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.

Dorothy Jean Fichter, age 91, of Caledonia, passed away at her winter home in Scottsdale, AZ on March 25, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her son, Allen.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Fred; daughters, Sue Kloostra and Linda (Michael) Cole; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bandenieks, Jason (Chrissie) Budrick, Jesse (Gia) Budrick, Kyle Cole and Brian Cole; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday in the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Chapel. The family will greet friends on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park or a charity of your choice .
