Henry Clay "Hank" Schepperly - Class Of 1946

Henry Clay "Hank" Schepperly, son of Henry Joseph (1890-1973) and Sarah Ellen (Keyser) (1894-1982) Schepperly, was born 27 September 1928 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated in 1946 from Okemos High School.

SCHEPPERLY - Pfc. Henry C. Schepperly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Schepperly, Okemos, is new serving with the 10th Constabulary regiment band which is stationed at Stuttgart, Germany.  He entered the army in October, 1946, and received his basic training at Fort Bliss, Tex.  He graduated from Okemos high School in May, 1946.

Hank married Irene Karpinski 1 September 1951 at the home of her parents, Ingham County.  Hank was employed by Consumers Power Company, now called Consumers Energy Company, for nearly 40 years.

CONSUMERS SENDS CREWS TO EAST

Consumers Power company crews from throughout  Michigan, including a Lancing division unit, were winging east Tuesday to New England's hurricane-lashed region to help restore utility services.

William R. Carlyon, Lansing division manager, said 13 Consumers servicemen from this area were among the 178 from the company who boarded specially-chartered planes at Willow Run airport, Detroit, at 9:45 a.m.

They will be working in the Boston area upon arrival.

The 13 from the Lansing Consumers Power division who flew east on emergency duty were.....Henry Schepperly....

Hank died 26 April 2001 Ingham County.  He was interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

SCHEPPERLY, HENRY "HANK"

OKEMOS

Age 72, died April 26, 2001.  Born September 27, 1928 in Lansing and grew up and lived in Okemos all of his 72 years.  Hank joined the United States Army in 1946 and played coronet in the Army band.  He was a Ham Radio Operator and worked for Consumers Energy Company for 39 years, retiring September 16, 1987.  He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Henry.  Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Irrene, whom he married September 1, 1951; son Bryan Schepperly; daughter Nancy (Gary) Polley; grandson Christopher; sister, Doris Garner, several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing with the Rev. Thomas Thompson, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, Williamston, officiating.  Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.
