Henry J. Kulesa, son of John (1880 Poland-1951) and Sophie (Stympniewski) (1894 Poland-?) Kulesa, was born 31 May 1920, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Henry was a World War II Army veteran. He graduated from Western Michigan College, now Western Michigan University, and was the band director at Okemos High School in 1950-1951.

The Okemos musicians will hear a talk "About Our Band," arranged by Henry J. Kulesa, band and instrument director at Okemos schools. A trumpet trio, a clarinet quartet, a flute solo by Jerry Snider and a trombone solo by Mr. Kulesa will be on the program. Mrs. Lee Bell and Mrs. I. J. Breckenfeld are named hostesses.
After a short stint in Okemos, Henry moved on to Delton High School, Delton, Barry County, Michigan as band director.

Henry died 24 May 2001, Oakland County, Michigan. He was interred Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit.
