Raymond Hoeppner - Class Of 1928 VIEW PROFILE

Raymond Hoeppner, son of Otto K. (1882-1947) and Emma (Lietzke) (1885-1972) Hoeppner, was born 14 October 1908, Michigan.  Raymond graduated in 1928 from Okemos High School.

The Hoeppner children seemed stalked by tragedy. Otto and Emma had 4 children.  Lillian, born in 1906 was accidentally poisoned and died in 1910. Raymond, died from crushing injuries in 1939.  Francis Otto, born 1913, died in the 1927 Bath School explosion.  Marjorie, born 1911, and a 1930 graduate of Okemos High School, died in 1974. 

Raymond married Katherine Harvey 10 October 1929 East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  The couple had three children.  Raymond died of injuries sustained when the car he was repairing fell on him.  He was rushed to Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, but succumbed to his massive internal injuries 23 July 1939.  He was interred Leek Cemetery.

Roy Hoeppner, 30, of Route 1, DeWitt, truck driver for the Jury-Rowe company here, died late Sunday night at Edward W. Sparrow hospital of injuries suffered when a car under which he was working fell on him Sunday noon at his home.  State police said that Hoeppner was repairing the brakes on this car.  They said he had the machine blocked up and that while he was working underneath it, the care fell, pinning him to the ground.

Hoeppner is survived by the widow, Catherine; three children, Raymond jr., Kay, and Margo; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hoeppner of DeWitt, and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Jarrad of Perry.  The body was removed to the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home to await funeral services which will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, the Rev. Carl Seipp officiating.  Burial will be in the Leek cemetery.

 

Katherine went on to remarry twice.  She married, 29 December 1941, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, Milton B. Powell.  They were divorced Ingham County, 25 February 1944.  Mrs. Katherine Brown, daughter-in-law, of Washington D. C., was mentioned in the 1947 obituary of Otto K. Heoppner.  Nothing more is known about Katherine.
