Bernice Olive Bitgood (Krieger) - Class Of 1926

Bernice Olive Bitgood (Krieger)

Bernice Olive Bitgood, daughter of Ira Edwin (1882-1972) and Bernetta Jane (Brace) (1881-1977) Bitgood, was born 8 October 1909, Newaygo County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1926 from Okemos High School.

Bernice married Richard Willis Krieger 14 October 1933, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  The couple had two children; Donald and Ruth Jeannette.

BITGOOD-KRIEGER VOWS ARE SPOKEN

In a setting of autumn foliage and flowers, Miss Bernice Olive Bitgood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira E. Bitgood, and Richard Willis Krieger, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Krieger, spoke their marriage vows Saturday, October 14, in the presence of 40 friends and relatives.  Dr. L. Sale-Harrison of Sidney, Australia, a friend of the bridal couple, performed the ceremony at the home of the bridegroom's parents, 2000 Alpha street.

The bride was lovely in gown of white crepe.  She was attended by her sister, Miss Beatrice Bitgood, who wore old gold, and by Miss Maurine Krieger, sister of the bridegroom, who was gowned in hyacinth blue.  Mr. Krieger was attended by his cousin, Harold Krieger.  During the ceremony, Mrs. Lillian Baker and Mrs. Vera Dick sang, "Teach Me to Pray" and "I Am Happy in Him."

Mr. and Mrs. Krieger left on a short wedding trip, and are now at home at 2000 Alpha street.

Richard, born 6 August 1906, Lansing, Ingham County, died of a sudden heart attack 3 April 1949, Kent County, Michigan.  He was interred with his parents and a sister Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lansing.

ROCKFORD MAN DIES AFTER TEACHING SUNDAY SCHOOL

Rockford, Mich., April 4 - Richard W. Krieger, 42, dropped dead of a heart attack after he finished teaching a Sunday school class t the Rockford Baptist church yesterday.

Krieger a former resident of Lansing, operated a motor repair shop here.  His father, William, and a sister, Mrs. Donald Tomlinson, both of Lansing, are among survivors.

Bernice died 3 June 2001 Stanislaus County, California.
