LeRoy Eugene Moore - Class Of 1912

LeRoy Eugene Moore, son of Adlebert L. (1865-1943) and Rachel Adella (Tobias) (1862-1949) Moore, was born 27 August 1896, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated in 1912 from Okemos High School and went on receive an engineering degree from Michigan Agricultural College (later Michigan State College, Michigan State University).

Leroy married Ruth Heineman 23 March 1918, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  The couple did not have children.

Leroy registered for the World War I Draft 5 June 1918, Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was employed by the Goodrich Rubber Company.  He was described as tall, of medium build with dark blue eyes and dark brown hair. Leroy was drafted and for a short time, 13 August thru 20 December 1918, served in the US Army, 32nd Battery, Field Artillery, Central Officers Training School, Camp Taylor, Kentucky.

Mr. & Mrs. LeRoy E. Moore have been spending a few days at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Moore at Okemos.

About 1930 LeRoy moved to California.  Ruth filed, in Michigan, and received a divorce for "desertion and non-support" 8 December 1936. Leroy was enumerated in the 1940 Los Angeles County, California US Federal Census as "single" and employed as a "men's supervisor CCC camp."  Between 1940 and 1942, when LeRoy registered in the 1942 World War II Draft, LeRoy married a lady named Ora Lee.  He died 2 December 1959, Arcadia, Los Angeles County and was interred Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles County.

LEROY E. MOORE SUCCUMBS AT 63

LeRoy E. Moore, 63, a native of Okemos and former engineer at Dow Chemical, Midland, died Wednesday in Arcadia, Cal, where he had been living since 1932.

Mr. Moore was born on a farm in the Okemos vicinity and was educated in the Okemos schools and was graduated from Michigan State university.  He held engineering posts at Dow Chemical and at Saginaw before moving to the west coast where he had been a consultant to several manufacturing companies.

Surviving are the widow, Ora Lee; a step-son, Malcolm Aleander; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bateman of Mason and Mrs. Eva Smith of Lansing; two brothers, Origin Moore and Lucius Moore, both of East Lansing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday in California and burial will be made at the cemetery in Arcadia.
