Jean Lenore Fogle (Leonard) - Class Of 1945

Jean Lenore Fogle, daughter of Floyd Earl Fogle (1887-1978) and Josephine R. (Hart) (1897-1977) Fogle, was born 26 January 1927, Michigan.  She graduated in 1945 from Okemos High School and went on to also graduate from Michigan State College with a teaching degree.

Jean married 26 June 1948, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan, Robert Lloyd Leonard.

JEAN LENORE FOGLE MARRIED IN OKEMOS

White tapers in candelabra lighted the altar of Okemos Community church Saturday at 3 p.m. for the nuptial service of Miss jean Lenore Fogle and Robert L. Leonard, Rev. Harold A. Jayne officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fogle of R. 4, Mason, and parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Earle M. Leonard.

Vocal selections were presented during the service by John VanDyke, Jr., of Okemos, accompanied by Miss Phyllis MacAllan, pianist.

Dainty white embroidery eyelet fashioned in the princess style, was worn by the bride.  A sweetheart brim of white eyelet matching that in the dress secured the fingertip length veil and she carried a crescent-shaped bouquet of roses and lilies-of-the-valley.

Miss Joyce Stillman of Mason, maid of honor, was attired in a light blue dotted Swiss gown with fitted yoke, wide ruffle forming the sleeves and full skirts with the peplum.  Her head band was of fresh flowers.

Bridesmaids were Miss Phyllis Wever of Mason and Miss Dorothy Delamarter whose gowns of pink dotted Swiss were styled after that of the honor maid.  All carried colonial bouquets of roses.

Best man for his brother was Lloyd Leonard of Okemos and ushers were George Fogle of Mason, brother of the bride, and Henry Schepperle of Okemos.  Dotty Jo Leonard was flower girl and Bill Leonard acted as ring bearer.  They are the niece and nephew of the bridegroom.

The church parlors were the setting for a reception following the service.  Assisting were Mrs. Stanley Vickers of East Lansing and Miss Mary Southworth, Miss Lina Tenny, Miss Pat Kelly, Mrs. Ruth Stillman and Mrs. A. B. Whiting, all of Okemos.

Following their wedding trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan, the couple will be at home at Route No. 4, Mason.  The bride is a music student in the junior class of Michigan State college.

Jean died 24 March 2014, Okemos.  Her body was donated to the MSU Medical School.

JEAN FOGLE LEONARD

LAINGSBURG

Jean Fogle Leonard, 87, died March 24, 2014 at Ingham County Medical Care in Okemos.  She was born January 267, 1927 to Floyd and Josephine Hart Fogle.  Jean graduated from MSU with a degree in Music Education and later received certification in Elementary Education from MSU.  She taught piano throughout her life, taught fourth grade at Laingsburg Community Schools, directed youth and adult choirs, handbell choir, and played piano at Okemos Community Church, Mason, Laingsburg and Middlebury United Methodist Churches.

Jen is survived by Robert, her husband of 65 years, five children, David (Monique) of Mason, John (Peggy), of Laingsburg, Ray (LeTeshia) of Portland, Anne of East Lansing and Tim of Laingsburg, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, George Fogle, and 7 nieces and nephews.  Jean willed her body to the MSU Medical School.
