School Stories

Eva attended the Okemos School until 11th grade when she transferred to and graduated from East Lansing High School in 1921.  Eva also attended and graduated from Western State Normal College, Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, obtaining her teaching degree.  She began teaching at Bath School in 1927 and was critically injured in the Bath School disaster, being pinned under massive wreckage.  Eva was one of the very few teachers who returned to teach at Bath during the 1927-1928 school year.  The entire story of the 1927 Bath School explosion is re-told and re-examined by Sherrie Paty '66 (History/Meridian/Bath School).  She married, in 1929, Earl O. Hoyt.  Eva died 20 April 1993.
