Roberta Lynn "Bobbie" Christie, daughter of Kirk Douglas (1952-1975) and Linda Lou (Mills) Christie, was born 29 August 1970, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. Kirk Christie was a 1970 graduate of Okemos High.  Bobbie's parents were later divorced and her mother married, in 1985, Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Ondrias.  Bobbie graduated in 1988 from Okemos High School.  She died 21 March 2015, Michigan.

WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN RIVER LIVED UNDER BRIDGE

LANSING - Roberta Christie spent time in several local shelters but ultimately opted for a life on the streets, a Lansing shelter director said.  Christie, 44 was found dead in the Grand River on Saturday.  She had been living under the Oakland Avenue bridge that crosses the Grand River.  She was found dead nearby, police said.

Christie regularly visited Lansing City Outreach, a daytime shelter on North Larch Street, to eat, shower and do laundry, shelter director Mark Bozzo said.  Bozzo last saw Christie, known as "Bobbie" by her friends, on Friday.  Bozzo said she briefly stayed at the Volunteers of America and City Rescue Mssion women's shelters.

"I have had a lot of dealings with Bobbie because, for her last few yars, she's been a street person.  That's just how she lived instead of coming in at night,"  Bozzo said.  "That lifestyle is so tough, especially on a woman.  It just leads to abuse, bad reationships and death."

Bozzo said she usually refused to stay in his non-profit's women's shelter in south Lansing.

Brett Tenhopen was one of Christie's friends.

"I was able to talk to Bobbie about just about anything," Tenhopen said.  "I liked her as person.  She was a pretty awesome person."

Christie was found in the river about 1:15 p.m. Saturday, police said in a press release.  Divers from the Captial Area Dive Team removed her from the river.  Police said they are investigating Christie's cause of death and didn't release further details Monday.

Passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the age of 44.  She was a graduate of Okemos High School.  She was a friend to all who knew her with an amazing laugh.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her father Kirk Christie (1974) (error: 1975).  She is survived by her mother, Linda (Larry) Ondrias; son, Trevor Lindaas, brother Matt Ondrias, and many loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Farmer-Lewis officiating.
