Clinton Denslow Aldrich - Class Of 1935

Clinton Denslow Aldrich

Clinton Denslow Aldrich, son of Claude D. (1877-1937) and Caroline L. (Keller) (1879-1973) Aldrich, was born 21 September 1915, Michigan.  Clinton graduated in 1935 from Okemos High School.

Clinton married Phyllis Jane Walton 1 July 1939, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  They divorced 16 December 1939, Ingham County.  Clinton married Doris Elaine Brook 18 April 1942, East Lansing, Ingham County.

BROOK-ALDRICH NUPTIAL VOWS SAID

Miss Doris E. Brook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn J. Brook, 128 Woodmere avenue, East Lansing, exchanged marriage vows with Clinton D. Aldrich, 501 South Pennsylvania avenue, son of Mrs. Caroline Aldrich of Holt, at an 8 o'clock ceremony Saturday evening in the home of her parents.

 

Clinton was employed by the City of Lansing before the war.  He entered the US Army in 1942 and served throughout World War II.  After honorable military discharge Clinton resumed his employment with the city and later was employed by the State of Michigan.

PARKING METER MAN NOW RIDES A BICYCLE

With more than 600 parking meters to keep in working order, Clinton Aldrich, city meter service man, no longer has to walk on his daily inspection rounds, but rides a brand new bicycle furnished by the city traffic commission.

CITY HALL HANGS HONOR ROLL PLAQUE

Names of 20 city employees who have been called to serve with the nation's armed forces were listed on a special honor plaque which has been placed in the corridor of the first floor of the city hall.

Among the names listed was that of John Coffey, Lansing fireman reported killed in action which serving in the pacific war zone late this summer.

Other employees given recognition on the honor roll were:.......Clinton Aldrich....

STATE EMPLOYEE RETIRES

Clinton Aldrich of 1312 Poxson is scheduled is retiring (original sentence structure in news article) after 23 years with the Michigan Department of Transportation.  Aldrich joined the highway department in 1956 as a traffic engineering aide in the traffic division; he retires as a transportation supervisor in the highway planning division.  A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Aldrich has worked in the Lansing area since 1935.

Clinton and Doris retired to Florida.  Clinton died 30 August 2000.  Doris, born 23 January 1918, died 28 February 2005.  Their place of interment is unknown.
