Mathew Theron Foster, son of Lyle E. Jr. (1937-2011) and Patricia Harriet (Johnson) (1941-2011) Foster, was born 6 April 1962, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  Mathew was to graduate with the Okemos High School class of 1980 but was killed in an auto accident 24 November 1979, Ingham County.  Mathew was one of 3 generations in his family killed in vehicular accidents.  His grandfather, Lyle Sr., died in an auto accident in 1957 while his father, Lyle Jr., died in a pick-up truck roll-over in 2011.  Lyle Jr. attended OHS with the Class of '57.

Mathew was interred Oakhurst Cemetery, Whitehall, Muskegon County, Michigan.

OKEMOS YOUTH DIES AFTER HEAD-ON COLLISION

A 17-year-old Okemos youth died early Saturday at Sparrow Hospital from injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Dobie Road south of Hatch in Meridian Township.

Ingham County Sheriff's deputies said they are still investigating the accident which caused the death of Mathew foster, 17, of 3799 VanAtta, when his vehicle collided with a car driven by 61-year-old Linda Riedle, of 1721 Chief Okemos Circle, Okemos, at about 11:35 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Riedle remains in serious but stable condition at Lansing General Hospital, suffering from lacerations, fractures and head injuries.  Her husband, Delmar, 68, and the couple's eight-year-old grandson, Mitchell Riedle, were hospitalized in Lansing General and remain in fair condition.  They sustained cuts and bruises.

Three passengers in the Foster vehicle were treated and released.  They are: Todd Miller, 15, of 2048 Hamilton, Okemos, treated at Lansing General; Todd Gorman, 15, of 163 Newman, Okemos, treated at Lansing General; and Lisa Lamison, 14, of 2134 Butternut, Okemos, treated at Ingham Medical Center.
