Alice Ethlyn Daniels (Stowell) - Class Of 1929

Alice Ethlyn Daniels, daughter of Charles Almeron (1884-1968) and Mary E. "Mamie" (Gilbert) Daniels, was born 26 December 1909, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1929 from Okemos High School.

OKEMOS YEAR BOOK DISTRIBUTED MONDAY

Okemos, May 18 - The 1929 Okemos High school annual "The Tomahawk" is larger than previous issues and will contain several features, all the grade and club pictures, O. H. S. record staff and "Labor" staff.

Alice Daniels is editor-in-chief.  The book will be on sale class night, May 20.

On 3 May 1932, Ingham County, Alice married John Wallace Fisher.  John was born 25 October 1902, Ontario Province, Canada.  He became a US citizen in 1940.  John and Alice had 2 daughters before being divorced in August 1952, Ingham County.

Alice married Don Dewey Stowell 9 May 1953, Ingham County and celebrated 33 years of togetherness.  Don, born 9 January 1899, died 30 October 1985, Grand Traverse County, Michigan.  Alice died 3 June 1988, Hancock, Houghton County, Michigan.  They were interred Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County.  Sadly, in 1960 Alice lost her oldest daughter, Dorothy Fisher Hodgkin. John Fisher, her former husband, died 20 March 1974, Lansing.

ALICE E. STOWELL

HANCOCK

Age 78, died Friday, June 3, 1988 in Portage View Hospital in Hancock.  A former resident of Lansing, she had moved to Traverse City in 1963 where she lived until moving to Hancock about 1 year ago.  She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Houghton.  She was born in Okemos December 26, 1909 to Charles and Mamie Daniels.  Married Don D. Stowell May 1953 in Williamston, and he died in 1985.  Surviving are 1 daughter, Verna Berner of Hancock; 1 step-son, Lester Stowell of Crystal; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy in 1960; a step-daughter, June Schalow; and 1 step-granddaughter.  Services Wednesday, June 8, 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Traverse City, with the Revs. Chris and Laura Hunter Heavner.  Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
