Elton Donald "Dan" Daniels - Class Of 1927

Elton Donald "Dan" Daniels, son of Charles Almeron (1884-1968) and Mary E. "Mamie" (Gilbert) Daniels, was born 30 December 1907, Ingham County, Michigan.  As a 15 year, on a hunting expedition, Dan was accidently shot by his uncle.  Although the wounds were severe and painful, he recovered (Lansing State Journal, July 21, 1923).  Dan graduated in 1927 from Okemos High School.  He attended and graduated from Ferris Institute (now Ferris State University), Big Rapids, Mecosta County, Michigan in 1931 with a pharmacy degree.

ACCEPTS POSITION

Okemos, March 11 - Elton Daniels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Daniels, a graduate of Okemos high school, who has completed a three-year course in pharmacy at Ferris institute, and passed the state board examination with the highest standing attained during the past three years at the institute, has accepted a position with the Duncan Weaver Drug store in Fennville, Mich., where he has been since March 1.

Dan married Maude Athlena Tolle 9 January 1930, Big Rapids.  Dan and Maude would have 10 children.

OKEMOS

Elton Daniels, an Okemos young man and pharmacist, has purchased the drug store at Lathrop street and East Michigan avenue, formerly known as the Byrnes drug store.  Daniels has worked in the Byrnes stores for seven years; recently has been manager at the East Lansing store.

He took possession last Tuesday of the Lansing store.  Mr. and Mrs. Daniels and children live on Powell road off US-16.

Dan and Maude celebrated 48 years together before Dan's death 9 December 1978, Lansing, Ingham County.  He was interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos. Maude, born 21 July 1907, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, died 17 January 1994, Clare County, Michigan.  She was interred Saint Cecilia Cemetery, Clare, Clare County.

ELTON (DAN) DANIELS

CLARIE, MI

Age 70, died Sat. Dec. 9, 1978 at a local hospital.  He was a resident of Clare for 3 1/2 hears coming from Okemos.  Mr. Daniels was a member of Church of the Resurrection, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Knights of Columbus, and also a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society.  He was employed as a Pharmacist in the Lansing area since 1931.  Surviving are his wife, Maude, 7 daughters; Mrs. James (Mary) Keenoy of Clare, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Dibble of Howell, Mrs. John (Donna) Wageman of Hurricane, West Virginia, Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Edwards of Lansing, and Mrs. Steven (Linda) Baker of Eaton Rapids, 3 sons, Pat Daniels of East Lansing, Thomas Daniels of Lansing and John Daniels of Fife Lake, 34 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister Mrs. Alice Stowell of Traverse City.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tues., 10 a.,. at Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Alex Bottazo officiating.  Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
