Edward John Abel

Edward John Abel, son of Walter P. (1903-1996) and Mary E. (Gartland) (1908-1987), was born 22 February 1935, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  Mr. and Mrs. Abel moved their family from Pennsylvania to Michigan about 1945.  Edward attended Okemos High School with the class of 1953.

Edward was a US Army veteran and past golf pro at Indian Hills Golf Course, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.  Edward died 6 September 1988, Ingham County and was interred Deepdale Memorial Park, Eaton County, Michigan.

OKEMOS

Age 53, went to be with his Lord September 6, 1988.  Born February 22, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Abel was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Okemos Lodge #252 F. & A.M.  He was the Golf Pro at Indian Hills Golf Course for 16 years and for the last 12 years was employed by CATA.  Mr. Abel served in the U.S. Army.  Predeceased by his mother, Mary E. Abel (2-87).  He 8is survived by his wife, Connie; 1 son, E.J. Abel of Port Orchard, WA; 2 step-sons, Steve Hilty of Okemos and Mark Hilty of Saginaw; 1 grandchild, Mariesa Hilty; his father, Walter P. Abel of Lansing; 1 brother, Walter J. (Donna) Abel of Lansing; 4 sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Margie) Wright, Mrs. Douglas (Patricia) Barnard, Mrs. Harry (Marry) Smith, all of Lansing and Mrs. Homer (Dorothy) Harder of Toledo, OH; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Radebaugh of DeKalb, IL; several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing, with the Rev. James A. Schalkhauser, Pastor officiating.  Interment will be in Deepdale Memorial Park.
