Three People Killed in Mecosta County Car Crash

UPDATE (3:12 p.m.):

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the three people killed in a car crash on US-131 late Tuesday.

Deputies say Charlotte Vine-Driver, of Lansing, was driving the wrong way on US-131 when she crashed head-on into Dwayne Johnson and Kian Scott, of Minnesota, who were traveling north.

All three were killed in the crash.

“At this point we’re investigating why she may have been in our area for what reasons there were,” said Mecosta County Sheriff Brian Miller.

Sheriff Miller said the crash was tragic for all involved.

“It was hard for the first responders on scene, and for the family members involved,” said Sheriff Miller. “But most importantly, we have three lives that are lost because of a tragic mistake.”

The sheriff’s office is still investigating.

**********

Three people died in a car crash in Mecosta County Wednesday morning.

Deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office got a call late Tuesday night about a driver going the wrong way down US-131 at mile marker 125 in Aetna Township.

Shortly after, they got an update of a head-on collision at the same spot, and that one of the cars was on fire.

Witnesses say the driver of the car that was going the wrong way never stopped before hitting the other car. There were no survivors in either vehicle.

Deputies are withholding the names until families can be notified.
