August 14, 2023, posted in the OAA Facebook group by Whit Ennelynne Ney:

"Hi! I am one of the daughters of Dan A Rahfeldt.

"I just wanted to thank whom ever put the alumni page memorial together. (My legal name is Whitney Rahfeldt Schneider- but I use this name for my everyday use Facebook because I’m a RN and patients can be crazy. 🫣)

"I miss my dad every day (you can see a picture of us singing together on my cover) and to randomly find a memorial to him when I was advised Not to post or make one helped heal a part of my chasm of hurt left in his absence.

"I cared for him in his late stage COPD/co morbidity related illness, and I am so glad we had all the time together, as I have to face the rest of my life without him now. He died from organ failure/sepsis in hospice, with us by his side, not Covid, though it was presumed to have some possible liver cancer involvement as well.

"He wrote several books, was an avid fisherman his entire life, and loved music and his grand daughter with all of his heart. He loved words, and reading and writing clever things was a gift he gave to all of his children. He was flawed and not perfect, but he was my dad and I wish he was still here and healthy.

'So thank you again to the organizers of this page, and if anyone remembers him and wanted to ask more/or share memories of him, I would be eager to hear them."
