Margaret Louise Leu (Keesler) - Class Of 1937

Margaret Louise Leu, daughter of Fred W. (1887-1958) and Margaret Ethel (Bradbeer) (1892-1986) Leu, was born 25 April1 1920 in Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.  Margaret graduated from Okemos High School in 1937.  She married fellow OHS alumni Starr Keesler 22 June 1941 in Ingham County.

Mrs. Ethel Leu of Okemos announces the approaching marriage of her daughter, Margaret Louise, to Starr Keesler son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Keesler of Okemos.  The wedding will take place June 22 at the Okemos Community church.

LEU-KEESLER VOWS ARE SPOKEN

Miss Margaret Leu, daughter of Mrs. Ethel Leu of Okemos, became the bride of Starr Keesler, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Keesler of Okemos, at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon in a ceremony performed in the Okemos Community church by the Rev. Mr. M. E. Hoyt, pastor of the Greenwood Avenue Methodist, church in Jackson.

The bride was attended by Miss Carol Paton of Okemos, Russell Kelty assisted the bridegroom, and ushers for the 75 guests were Temple Tenny and Donald Cudworth.  Candelabra, ferns, and summer flowers formed background for the ceremony, music for which was sung by Miss Ruth Woodworth accompanied by Miss Margaret Kelley.  Miss Woodworth sang "Because" and "O, Perfect Love."

White marquisette trimmed in lace was worn by the bride, whose veil was finger-tip in length, and the maid of honor was in blue net with peach velvet trimming.  Mrs. Leu was in brown chiffon for her daughter's wedding, and the mother of the bridegroom wore rose silk.

The reception following the ceremony was held in the church parlors which were decorated with yellow roses and candelabra holding lighted tapers.  Later, the newlyweds left for a motor trip to northern Michigan from which they plan to return June 29 to make their home at Dundee.  The bridegroom is a graduate of Michigan State college.

Out of town guests were present from Hammond, Ind., Cuyahoga Falls, O., Flint, Akron, O., and Toledo, O.

TWINS ARE WELCOMED

Okemos, Oct. 23 - Twin babies, a girl weighing 5 pounds 5 ounces and a boy 6 pounds 12 ounces, were born October 17 to Mr. and Mrs. Starr Keesler.  They have been named Eric and Erin.  The mother is the former Margaret Leu, daughter of Mrs. Ethel Leu of Okemos and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arch Keesler on Dobie road.  The young couple will be living in one of the new apartments on Harrison road, Michigan State college, where Mr. Keesler has charge of the housing administration.

Starr and Margaret had 3 children.  Starr, born 24 April 1920 Okemos, Ingham County, died 9 May 1993 Ingham County.  Margaret died January 1, 2010 St Croix County, Wisconsin.

Margaret Keesler, 89

Margaret Louise Keesler, age 89, of New Richmond, and formerly of Okemos, Mich., died on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond.

Margaret was born the daughter of Fredrick and Margaret (Bradbeer) Leu on April 25, 1920, in Lansing, Mich. Margaret graduated from high school and attended business school. On June 22, 1941, she married Starr Keesler.

She loved to garden, cook, bake, and travel. She was involved in her church, and enjoyed the time with her family at Big Twin Lake and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Starr Keesler, and grandson, Derek Thomas.

She is survived by her children, Eric (Georgia) Keesler, Erin (Charles) Gunder, and Candace (Wayne) Thomas; grandchildren, Jason (Jamie Beth) Keesler, Ann-Marie Keesler Martin, James Keesler, Tom (Chelsa) Keesler, Vickie (Joe) Jeter, Nathan Keesler, Kristen (John) Hogan, Kelly (Jon) Kinder, Keith (Trishann) Gunder, Nicole (Ryan) Blaszczyk, and Linsey Thomas; great-grandchildren, Emily and Autumn Gunder, Carter Hogan, Lindsey and Ryan Martin, Mattie Jeter, Abigail, Brooke, and Claire Blaszczyk; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the First Baptist Church in New Richmond. Memorial visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young's Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
