Margaret Daisy Lang (Troth, D. A. R. Award)

Margaret Daisy Lang, daughter of William Warner (1891 Germany - 1970) and Clara D. (Peterman) (1892-1972) Lang, was born 20 June 1918, Mason, Ingham County, Michigan.  Margaret was a 1936 graduate of Okemos High School.  She was class salutatorian and also received the D.A.R. award.

During World War II Margaret joined the "Waves", Women Accepted For Voluntary Emergency Service, which was part of the US Navy.  Margaret married, 20 November 1944, Bernard Putnam Troth.  Bernard enlisted in the US Navy and served from June 1941 until honorable discharge June 1947.  After the war the couple settled in Illinois, Bernard's home, and had a son.  The marriage ended in divorce January 1973.  Margaret moved back to Ingham County, Michigan and the home farm.

Margaret Troth was divorced in Circuit Court from Bernard Troth on grounds of desertion.  The couple was married Nov. 20, 1944.  There were no minor children.

Bernard, born 31 October 1918 Peoria County, Illinois, died 1 March 2002 Missouri.  He was interred Elmwood Cemetery, Elmwood, Peoria County.

Margaret died 7 April 1995 Lansing, Ingham County and was interred Maple Ridge Cemetery, Holt, Ingham County.

TROTH, MARGARET D.

OKEMOS

Age 76, died April 7, 1995.  Born June 20, 1918 in Meridian Township.  Mrs. Troth was a member of the Okemos Community Church; a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy; and a member of the American Legion.  She was a resident in Okemos and Meridian Township on the property where she was born, The William and Clara Lang Farm.  Surviving are her son, John L. (Patricia) Troth of Carmel, IN; 2 grandchildren, John W. and Ashley.  Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1739 E. Grand River, East Lansing, with the Rev. George Grettenberger Associate Pastor of Okemos Community Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery.

Margaret had two sons, John and Thomas.   Thomas, died in 1969 of Muscular Dystrophy.
