Irene M. Turau, daughter of Otto Fredrick (1871-1943) and Mary V. (Gibbons) (1884-1952), was born 24 August 1909, Williamston, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1928 from Okemos High School.

Irene married Cassius I. Roosa 30 May 1930, Ingham County.  The couple had 5 children.  Cassius, born 26 February 1908, died 1 May 1966, Michigan.  Irene died 17 March 2001, Ingham County.  Cassius and Irene were interred East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos.

OKEMOS

Born August 24, 1909, in Williamston; died March 17, 2001, at the age of 91.  Irene retired in 1974 from the Okemos School System, as a cafeteria hostess after 12 years of faithful service and was a team leader for Stanley Home Products for 48 years.  She was preceded in death by 1 son, Donald D., in 1991, and 1 brother, Ted Turau.  Surviving are 1 daughter, Mary E. Tyler of Somerset Center, MI; 3 sons, Robert R. (Di Ann) Roosa of Dimondale, Russell L. (Joan) Roosa of Laingsburg, and Gerald D. (Linn) Roosa of Acworth, GA; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Alice Turau of Williamston.  Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 21, at 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with Pastor Douglas Phillips, of the First Baptist Church of Okemos, officiating.  Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Garden, Okemos.
