To Bruce's kids, I will always remember Bruce with fondness and respect.  I looked up to Bruce like an older brother.  My freshman year 1961 and he as a Junior, Bruce "protected" me from getting picked on by some Sophomores during lunch break at the gym.  He saw they were harassing the Freshman and when he stepped in, the Soph's immediately backed off and no trouble with them again.  Bruce befriended our German Exhange student, Hans Wiegand, so I saw a lot of him in 1962 and 1963.  He charmed our mother with his politeness and she kept dessert's handy for him.  Then in 1966, with everyone off to college, Bruce, Melody (my sister in Bruce's class), met up with Hans and traveled Europe together for 10 weeks in a VW Beetle!  What a great adventure and lifetime experience.  Also, amazing that we could stay together for so long.  Bruce was so easy going and fun to be with, we still have only fond memories 50 years later!  I'll be sure to call Hans (who is severely struck with dementia)...he always thought of Bruce as a brother.  I always thought of Bruce as my protector and as was a wonderful person to know so well.
