Gregg Alan Frakes - Class Of 1981

Gregg Alan Frakes, son of Paul D. (1933-2008) and Katharine (Kahres) (1936-2007) Frakes, was born 28 October 1962, Michigan.  Gregg's father was a retired Army Colonel and his mother a schoolteacher.  Gregg graduated in 1981 from Okemos High School.

Gregg has some difficulties with the law during the early 80's.  He had moved to the New Orleans, Louisiana area and there was found murdered 30 May 1986.  Gregg was interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  His parents were also interred within Evergreen.

Gregg had a tree planted in his memory in Lansing's Frances Park during June 1991.

FORMER OKEMOS MAN FOUND SLAIN

New Orleans - Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the handgun death of a former Okemos man, Gregg Alan Frakes.

The body of Frakes, 23, of Metairie, LA., was discovered in his truck by a construction worker near downtown Friday morning, New Orleans police said.

Police said Frakes, an Okemos high School graduate, was shot in the head and chest.  Investigators said they are trying to trace the victim's movements before his death in an effort to track down his killer.

No suspects are in custody, and robbery has been ruled out as a cause, police said.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Katharine Frakes of Okemos; his maternal grandmother, Elsie Kahres of Holt; and his brother, Douglas of Lansing.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing.
