Eunice Marie Moldenhauer (Dorn) - Class Of 1938

Eunice Marie Moldenhauer, daughter of Victor (1888-1981) and Nina Mary (Hough) (1891-1974) Moldenhauer, was born 15 October 1919 Haslett, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1938 from Okemos High School.  On 1 June 1940 in Lansing, Ingham County, Eunice married William Frederick Dorn.  William was a World War II Army veteran, attaining rank of TSgt.

MISS MOLDENHAUER SPEAKS HER VOWS

Miss Eunice Marie Moldenhauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor G. Moldenhauer of Okemos, was married last Saturday evening, June 1, to William Frederick Dorn of Okemos and Benton Harbor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dorn of Okemos, at the Emanuel First Lutheran church in Lansing.  The Rev. Mr. Karl F. Krauss officiated in the presence of about 250 guests.

Attending the bride, gowned in white taffeta, where Mrs. Edgar J. Wolcott of Okemos, matron of honor, and Mrs. George Osborne of Okemos and Mss Lois Henderson of Mason, bridesmaids.  The bride's fingertip veil was held by a tiara of white satin and seed pears, and she carried pink rosebuds and gardenias.  Mrs. Wolcott wore pink organza and bridesmaids were dressed alike in gowns of net, one in light blue and the other in peach.

Max Fuller was best man, and ushers were Arthur Redman and Richard Fuller.  Music during the ceremony was played by Mrs. S. S. VanWaggonen.  The ring bearer was the small nephew of the bride, James Wolcott.

A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents.  White tulips, white lilacs and pink candles decorated the rooms.  Mrs. Dorn is a graduate of Cleary college, Ypsilanti.

William was born 23 April 1917 Lansing and died 24 Feb 2008 Polk County, Florida.  Eunice died 26 November 2006 in Polk County.  Both were interred Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida.

Eunice Marie Dorn Lake Wales - Mrs. Eunice Marie Dorn, 87, of Lake Wales, Florida, died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the Palm Garden of Winter Haven of heart failure. She was born October 15, 1919 in Haslett, Michigan and moved to Lake Wales Twenty five years ago from Okemos and Saranac, Michigan. She was a Lutheran. Final inurnment will be at The Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice,105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823. Survivors include her Husband of 66 years: William "Fred", Daughter, Elaine M. (Gary) Preston of Okemos, Michigan, Son Duane F. (Jean) Dorn of Inverness, Florida, Grandson Jeff (Julie) Preston of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, Grandson Steve (Amanda) Preston of DeWitt, Michigan and Two great grandchildren.

William F. "Fred" Dorn Lake Wales, FL Age 90, died Sunday, February 24, 2008. He was in the care of Wedgewood of Winter Haven and Good Shepherd Hospice of Auburndale. Born April 23, 1917 in Lansing, Michigan, he moved 27 years ago to Polk County, FL from Okemos and Saranac, MI. He lived in Winter Haven and Lake Wales. He was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Mr. Dorn retired in 1976 from Michigan Bell Telephone with 37 years service. He was a member of Emanuel First Lutheran Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Eunice, and one brother Arthur Dorn, Dimondale MI. Survivors include daughter, Elaine M. (Gary) Preston, Okemos, MI; son, Duane F. (Jean) Dorn, Inverness, FL; sisters, Eleanore Osborne, Okemos, MI, Margaret "Peg" Tarpoff, Haslett, MI; brother, Robert Dorn, Houghton Lake, MI; grandchildren, Jeff (Julie) Preston, Hatboro, PA, Steve (Amanda) Preston, DeWitt, MI; and two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Preston. Final inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
