John Elvin Olin, son of Jay W. (1901-1990) and Elsie Marie (Sessions) (1902-1983), was born 3 October 1924 Michigan. He graduated in 1943 from Okemos High School. A brother, Richard, graduated in 1944.

John attended Acme Business College and while there met Ferne R. Holloway. He and Ferne married 6 May 1950 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. The couple raised 3 boys and 1 girl. John had a long career as an accountant with and retired from Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Ferne, born 13 January 1930, died 17 August 2009 and was interred Deepdale Cemetery, Eaton Township, Eaton County, Michigan.

John was still living as of 2016.
