Dennis Earl Burgess, son of Frederick Allen (1911-1995) and Elvena Mary (Kemnski) (1915-1945), was born 12 Sept 1945 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1963.  Dennis died 29 June 2003 in Ingham County.

On the morning of June 29, 2003, we lost our dearly loved, fun-filled, hero and best friend suddenly at the age of 57.  Dennis was born September 12, 1945 in Lansing, was a 1963 graduate of Okemos High School and was currently the Area Business Manager for Kennametal Inc., where he has been employed for 30 years.  He dearly loved his family and friends, M.S.U. sports and the great outdoors.  Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Elvena M. (Kemnski), 7 days after his birth, father, Frederick Burgess, in 1995, mother, Dorothy (Johnson) Burgess, on May 23, 2003, and brother-in-law, Donald L. Wright, in February 2003. Surviving are Charlene (Carter) his wife of 33 years; his children, Grant (Lisa) Burgess of Grand Rapids and Denise (Bill) McCullen of DeWitt; grandchildren, Ford and Oscar Burgess and Carter and Jerod McCullen; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Elaine Carter of Mason, brothers and sister, Larry Johnson of East Lansing, David (Lynne) Johnson of Haslett, Jeff (Sandi) Carter and Sheren Wright, both of Mason; aunts and uncles, Helen (Kemnski) Erwin of Florida, Clarence and Lucille Burgess of Lansing, Jeri Burgess of Boyne City and Jack and Elaine (Burgess) Degener of Holt; many loved nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.
