Philip Raymond Pearce, son of Lt. Joseph "Joe" Gordon (1908-2002) and Emmagene Louise "Jean" (Turner) (1914-2005), was born 9 August 1945 in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan.  His parents were married 12 November 1936 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Philip's father was a highly decorated Michigan State Policeman with a long career, 1931-1957, in law enforcement.  Lt. Pearce was awarded 18 meritorious service awards during his years of police work.  Philip's mother was a beautician and also worked as a store detective.  Philip graduated from Okemos High School in 1963.

Philip died 27 December 1989 in San Francisco, San Francisco County, California.  It is unknown where he was interred.  Engraved on his father's tombstone in Oak Grove Cemetery, Manistee, Manistee County, Michigan; "Commenorating life - Jean L. and son - Philip R."
