Ruth Heathman (Hubbard) - Class Of 1931

Ruth D. Heathman, daughter of Walter J. (1878-1968) and Dottie D. (Allen) (1880-1968) Heathman, was born 22 December 1912 in Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated from Okemos High School in 1931.  On 5 September 1936 in Gary, Lake County, Indiana, Ruth married Boyden N. Hubbard.  Boyden, son of Herbert R. and Katherine "Katie" (Wagner) Hubbard, was born 28 February 1914 in Michigan.  He served in the US Army, 1943-1945, during World War II.

HEATHMAN-HUBBARD NUPTIAL VOWS SAID

Miss Ruth D. Heathman became the bride of Boyden N. Hubbard in a quiet ceremony at Gary, Ind., Saturday, September 5.  Miss Alyce Gray and Jerry Durst were the attendants.

The bride was attractively dressed in brown with accessories to match and her flowers were Talisman roses and baby "mums".  Miss Gray wore black and white with a should corsage of Johanna Hill roses and baby "mums."

Mrs. Hubbard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Heathman of Okemos.  She graduated from Okemos high school and Lansing Business university.

Mr. Hubbard, the son of Mrs. Katherine Hubbard, 923 North Pine, graduated from Eastern high school

Following a brief visit in Chicago the couple are residing at 722 North Chestnut street.

PROMOTIONS

Corp. Boyden N. Hubbard, whose wife, Ruth, and daughter, Sue Ann, live at 4729 North East street, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.  He has been in the European theater of operations since December, 1943, serving with the Ninth air force tactical air command.  He wears four battle stars and the "Sourragere", a Belgian decoration.

Ruth retired from Michigan Supply Company.  Boyd died 26 December 1980 in Lansing.  Ruth died 12 January 1995 Ingham County.  Both were interred Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason, Ingham County.

HUBBARD, RUTH D.

OKEMOS

Age 82, died January 12, 1995.  Born December 22, 1912.  Mrs. Hubbard retired from Michigan Supply Company in 1990; and was an active member of the Okemos Community Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyden (1980).  Surviving are 2 daughters, Sue Ann (Dennis) Grace of Charlotte and Jean Marie (Roy) McCrumb of Lansing, 3 grandchildren, Mark D. (Angie) Morrison, Patrick W. Grace and Peter Boyden Grace; 2 great grandchildren, Rebecca and Crystal Morrison; 1 brother, George (Jeanette) Heathman of Holt; several nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held Monday, January 16, 4 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with the Rev. David Evans, Pastor Emeritus, of Okemos Community Church, officiating.  Interment services will be private in Maple Grove Cemetery.
