In Memoriam

Gaylord Parmenus Watts - Class Of 1931

Gaylord Parmenus Watts, son of John L. and Maude (McCormick) Watts, was born 12 December 1912 in Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1931.  Gaylord married Ellen Lucinda Marshall, daughter of Chauncy E. and Mary E. (Slaught) Marshall on 19 October 1935 in Mason, Ingham County.  Ellen was born 30 January 1916 in Eaton County, Michigan.  Ellen, born 30 January 1916, died 18 January 1999. Gaylord died 1 July 1990 in Lansing, Ingham County and was interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

Gaylord and Ellen lived their married lives in the Lansing area.  One son, Terry Lee, died a tragic death 28 October 1962.  Terry was included on a mule deer hunting trip into the Little Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming.  The hunting party ran into a heavy snow storm and Terry left the others to return to the car with the intention of driving it down a mountain road before it became snowbound.  Unfortunately the boy never showed up at a rendezvous point nor at the car.  His body was found several days later.  He had frozen to death.
