Ross Hudson Bearup - Class Of 1937

Ross Hudson Bearup, son of George Herbert (1880-1944) and Edith Fanny (Hudson) (1888-1965) Bearup, was born 16 July 1920 in Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1937.

Ross was working as a "collector and adjuster for the Commercial Credit Corporation in Detroit" when he married Dorothy Lucille Monroe in his parent's home 19 July 1942 Okemos, Ingham County.  Dorothy, daughter of John C. and Bertha (Rowley) Monroe, was born 17 July 1921 in Williamston.  Ross and Dorothy's only child, a son, Stuart, was born 16 June 1942 in Ingham County, Michigan.

WILLIAMSTON MAN INJURED IN MISHAP

Ross Bearup, 22, of Williamston was in Edward W. Sparrow hospital Monday with head and scalp injuries suffered when his car got out of control on highway US-16 near Zimmer road early Sunday morning and crashed into the ditch where it overturned.

State police, who investigated the accident, said Bearup was attempting to pass another car when he saw another machine approaching from the opposite direction, and swung his car back into the right-hand lane.  He condition was reported as "fair" Monday.

Ross enlisted as a private in the US Army 15 April 1943.

BEARUP - Capt. Ross Bearup of Okemos, has recently been transferred from Frankfort, Germany, to Pris, France, and has been assigned to the headquarters of the U.S. European Command.  He has been named officer in charge of the new U.S. EVCOM Officer's club.  Capt. Bearup's  wife, Dorothy, and son, Stuart, are with him in Europe.

Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Ross Hudson Bearup died 17 September 1987 in Hackett, Sebastian County, Arkansas.  Dorothy, his wife of nearly 55 years, died 11 July 1996 in Sebastian County.  Both were interred Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian County.
