Franklin Fay "Fay" Blackledge - Class Of 1937

Franklin Fay Blackledge, son of Frank Stanley (1891-1971) and Hazel Fay (Gates) (1894-1991) Blackledge, was born 27 December 1919 Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1937.  Fay married Betty Maxine Clark 18 April 1942 Lansing, Ingham County.

REVEALS MARRIAGE AT MT. HOPE CHURCH

Mrs. Manley Conger of Okemos announces the marriage of her daughter, Miss Betty Clark, to Fay Blackledge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blackledge of Okemos.  The wedding took place April 18 in Mt. Hope Methodist church with Rev. Paul Boodagh officiating.

For her wedding, the bride wore aqua with luggage tan accessories, and she wore a corsage of brown orchids.  Miss Mildred Blackledge, sister to the groom, was maid of honor.  Robert Clark, brother of the bride, was groomsman.

A reception was held at Hunt's Food shop, East Lansing.  After a short trip, Mr. and Mrs. Blackledge will be at home at 528 South Grand avenue.

Fay died 23 July 1995 Ashley, Gratiot County, Michigan.  Betty, daughter of Herbert and Beatrice (McAfee) Clark, was born 14 March 1921 Lansing, Ingham County.  She died 27 May 2000.

BLACKLEDGE, FRANKLIN FAY

EAST LANSING

Mr. Blackledge, age 75, passed away July 23, 1994 in Ashley, MI.  He was born in Okemos, MI on December 17, 1919, son of Frank and Hazel Blackledge.  Following graduation from Okemos High School in 1937, he was employed by Reo Motors Co. as Assistant Payroll Manager, Paymaster at Planet Corporation, and later retiring after 17 years at John Bean Corporation.  He attended Lansing Business University and later M.S.U. night school for one year.  For over 53 years he was married to the former Betty Cark.  He resided most of his life in the Lansing area, except for 23 years in Maple Rapids where he and his wife operated a patent medicine store.   Mr. Blackledge was a charter member of the Little League of Gratiot and Clinton Counties.  He operated the Rainbow Lake Bus Service for several years.  In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Jo Greer of St. Johns; and a son, Frank (Carolyn) of San Diego, CA; 2 granddaughters, Toni Greer and Tonya Starlin; and 1 grandson, Scott Greer; 3 great-grandchildren, Amanda and Steven Starlin and Zachary Greer; 2 brothers, Robert and Lyle; and 1 sister, Mildred Andrick.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Rose Ann, in 1959.  Mr. Blackledge donated his body to Michigan State University.  There will be no services.
