Helen M. Kinne, daughter of Ray Washington (1881-1923) and Nellie (Dickey) (1892-1965) Kinne, was born 28 April 1918 Potterville, Eaton County, Michigan. Helen graduated from Okemos High School in 1937.
Helen's parents were divorced 18 September 1922 in Jackson County, Michigan. Ray, her father, was employed by Consumers Power Company and worked as a lineman. He was killed on the job 12 August 1923. Ray died of a "head injury caused by a fall from a pole." He was interred Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, Eaton County. Helen may have been raised by relatives.
Helen's mother remarried but seemingly Helen thought her dead. Helen listed her mother as deceased on her marriage license to Floyd I. Spencer, 6 February 1939 Dekalb County, Indiana.
Floyd Spencer, born 28 April 1916 in Michigan, enlisted in the US Army and served during World War II. He died 20 October 1968 and was interred Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding, Ionia County, Michigan. Helen died 13 February 2011. Her residence was listed as Greenville, Mississippi. Helen was 92.
