Elwin Carl "Nick" Ray - Class Of 1944

Elwin Carl "Nick" Ray, son of Carl Arthur (1900-1969) and Viva W. (Williams) (1901-1953) Ray, was born 15 August 1925 Ingham County, Michigan.  He attended Okemos High School with the Class of 1944 but left to join the US Navy in 1943 and was a Naval Reservist for many years.

Nick married August 1947 Peggy Drumm.  They divorced in 1965.  He then married a Mary Oneal but was wed his last 38 years to Joanna.  Nick died 12 July 2008 Ingham County and was interred East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos, Ingham County.

OKEMOS

Born on August 15 1926 in Okemos, MI to Carl and Viva (Williams) Ray; passed away on July 12, 2008 in Lansing, MI, at the age of 81.

Nick was a WWII veteran and a reservist for the U.S. Navy for 40 years.  He was a Mason, and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #7.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Joanne Ray; 5 daughters; 3 sons, 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing with Mr. Tim Craft officiating.  Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos.
