Nancy Jane Warren (LaFarge Brandon) - Class Of 1944

Nancy Jane Warren, daughter of Clare F. (1996-1962) and Madge (Deland) (1891-1972) Warren, was born 26 February 1926 Michigan.  Nancy's father was a World War I veteran; Corporal, 4th Military Police Corp. 

Nancy graduated in 1944 from Okemos High School.  She married World War II Army Air Corps veteran Carl Henry LaFarge 25 December 1948.  Carl, born 21 November 1921, was a 1941 graduate of Okemos High School.

Married December 25 in McCune chapel of Peoples church, East Lansing, by Rev. N. A. McCune, were Miss Nancy Jane Warren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clare F. Warren of Okemos, and Carl H. LaFarge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry LaFarge, R. 1, East Lansing.

The bride wore a white wool street length dress with gold accessories and a corsage of red roses.  Her only attendant, her sister, Mrs. Charlotte Granger, chose an aqua dress with silver accessories, with a rose corsage.

Mr. LaFarge served five years in the American army air force and was discharged with a captain's rating.  Robert Jack Warren, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman.

After the ceremony the newlyweds received guests at a reception in the home of the bride's parents.  Following a wedding trip through the southern states the newlyweds are now at home to their friends at 916 Bensch street.

Carl was tragically killed in a motorcycle mishap 8 September 1948.  He was interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Ingham County.

Nancy remarried a Mr. Brandon and bore a daughter.  Nancy died 19 July 2008.  According to her 20 July 2008 obituary in the Lansing State Journal, Nancy led a very full life.  "She worked at the New York Central Railroad for 15 years and Waldo travel for 25 years.  This allowed her to travel all over the world.  She learned to fly in 1952 and earned her private pilot's license.  Then she went on to earn her commercial license and multi-engine rating.  In the 60's and 70's, she belonged to the 99's women's pilot club and flew in several of their small races.

Nancy LaFarge-Brandon was buried near Carl in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.
